Basalt Fiber Needle Felt is made of Basalt Fiber, a new environmental protective material which directly drawn from natural volcanic rock. Single fibers disorderly staggered interspersed to form a non-directional three-dimensional microporous structure. By adopting 7~9µm thin fiber, the needle felt has bigger specific surface area. Its porosity reaches to 80% around. And it’s no boron. It can be used to automobile sector for filtrating and purifying of high-quality air, thermal insulation, sound insulation, sound-absorbing, heat preservation, fireproof material. It also can be used as an auxiliary material for hot rolling on mirror surface steel, aluminium sheet and thermostability soft matting material etc.

Applications in a car

Soundproof Performance Comparison

Butyl Rubber is a kind of material that widely used for sound insulation in a car. Its performance can be improved by addingin certain amount amorphous powder to it. But have little effect. Basalt Fiber Needle Felt has superior soundproof performance other than Butyl Rubber(see fig 1).

Related products made of Basalt Fiber Needle Felt has absolute advantages(fig1,fig2)in sound insulation,sound absorption. Therefore, it’s a superior material (superior performance and environmental protective) to replace butyl rubber as sound insulation for cars.
